Club Members' Last Meeting at the Senior Center
A memorable day, our last meeting at the “old” Senior Center, and move, following the meeting, to the LSWC (Livonia Senior Wellness Center). With 19 members and guests in attendance and one Zoomer, for a total of 20. What was truly remarkable about our LAMR is that more than half of the group helped out with loading our stuff and moving it after the meeting to our storage area in the LSWC. Team work par excellence!!!
This meeting of our LAMR club began with Nancy Darga leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an Invocation by Mike Ladwig. After welcoming our guests, Nancy shared correspondence, followed by many nostalgic Happy Bucks.
Tammy Bonifield was applauded, having been recognized at the recent Rotary District 6400 Foundation Dinner for her will bequest to The Rotary Foundation (TRF).
We also enjoyed a feast of goodies that members brought to mark our “farewell” from the old Senior Center.
Re-Build Rotary Park: President Nancy reported that we are up to $49,720.38 in cash, and with $30,000 in pledges.
Our new LAMR Four-Way-Test soccer balls have been ordered.
The meeting on November 26th, is not a regular meeting. It is the day before Thanksgiving, and we’ll have breakfast together at 8:00 AM at George’s Senate Coney Island on Haggerty Road, between 5 and 6 Mile.
President Nancy introduced our guest speaker, Stewart Baker from the Schoolcraft College Foundation. Stewart, in turn, recognized Claude Kendrick, a fellow member of the Schoolcraft College Foundation.
Stewart showed how Schoolcraft College has touched our lives in Livonia, educating us as to the five taxing districts through which our contiguous communities support Schoolcraft College. He discussed the enrichment classes offered, the fitness center (available to the community), and the new buildings currently under construction. While highlighting the award-winning American Harvest Restaurant and the Schoolcraft College Culinary Department. This was a most informative talk by Stewart, with numerous questions.
Greg Greene's three jokes today were really good ones, followed by the recitation of the Four-Way-Test, and adjournment and many helping hands for “the move,” led by Bill Friske.
