Yesterday was a great day for the Rouge River.
The first 800 ft. section of the river, which was buried under the Downs Racetrack in the 1960s, was opened and diverted to a new river channel built to daylight the waterway.
If you live in Livonia, Northville, Westland, Dearborn Heights, or Dearborn, this will significantly reduce flooding during storm events and improve water quality.
